Canterbury Way
Worn out after Lent, Holy Week, and the Easter festivities? Consider resting, relaxing and growing closer to the Lord at
The Canterbury Way 2009 Retreat
Each year, the Major Chapter of the Canterbury Way provides a retreat in the spring, usually during the week of Low Sunday.
The retreat begins with Vespers (Evening Prayer) on Wednesday, April 22, and ends after lunch on Friday, April 24.We share in the Divine Office and the Eucharist in the Sisters' chapel, and eat with them in the convent refectory. We have individual rooms in the guest house.
The retreat is open to all clergy of the Episcopal Diocese of Central NY. You do not have to be a member of the Canterbury Way to attend, and there is no obligation to join (although we hope you will).
The site of the retreat will be at St. Margaret's House, Jordan Road, New Hartford, NY (just outside Utica). Plan to arrive before 5 p.m. on Wednesday the 22nd. Dress is casual; bring a sweater since April temperatures are chancy.
Our Retreat conductor this year is Pastor Jim Bresnahan, who is currently interim pastor at St. David's, DeWitt. His topic is Ethics in the New Testament.
We suggest that you might want to bring your Bible and a notebook to record notes and prayer/meditation topics.
Make your reservations directly with St. Margaret's House, using the tear-off registration slip below. For scholarship assistance, contact Kathleen McDaniel in the Bishop’s office.
Hope to see you there....
The Rev. Virginia W. Nagel, Convenor for The Canterbury Way
